![]() Has Zsasz ever teamed up with Black Mask in the comics? ![]() He’s Black Mask’s most loyal henchman and friend. Birds of Prey gives us a Zsasz who’s more sadistic than outright delusionally detached. Yes, that’s actually Chris Messina, from The Mindy Project. He’s just a normal guy, albeit a terrifyingly murderous one. What are Mister Zsasz’s powers or abilities? Other creators have touched on him since (Christopher Nolan even gave him a cameo in Batman Begins), but in his main backstory, he’s the disaffected scion of a rich Gotham family who decided that all of humanity is sleepwalking through life, and it’s his job to wake them up. Who created Mister Zsasz?Īlan Grant and Norm Breyfogle created Zsasz for the first arc of Batman: Shadow of the Bat, a story all about Arkham Asylum and it’s most terrifying inmates, and still managed to make Zsasz the scariest in the bunch. It’s just that he only feels alive when he’s slitting people’s throats, arranging them in life-like poses before rigor mortis sets in, and then carving a tally mark into his body with each kill. He has no powers, no pattern, no larger goal. Ironically, that makes him one of Gotham’s most terrifying villains. Victor, or Mister Zsasz as he’s known, is the closest thing Batman’s Rogues Gallery has to a run-of-the-mill serial killer. There are some long histories behind some of the superheroes and villains, but here’s everything you need to know about Mister Zsasz: What is Victor Zsasz’s origin story in the comics? (And to see about that dick love. With Birds of Prey screaming into theaters, we’re shining a spotlight on the DC Comics movie’s cast of characters - from A to Zsasz. I suppose we will all need to wait until Birds of Prey opens on February 7 to see whether Black Mask and Zsasz are a couple and what other changes writers made to characters from the comic book page to the big screen. ![]() Could those characters have some moments during the movie to represent LBGTQ characters as well? Maybe instead of lip service, we can get some characters that DC hopes to keep around longer (for franchise purposes) coming out as LBGTQ in a way that isn’t cheap or related to buzz around the flick but to flesh out characters we get to see in more leading roles in the near future. What I do know is that Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) is a lesbian in the comics and I’m wondering if they’ll touch on that in the flick. Black Mask and Zsasz aren’t gay in the comics, as far as I can recall (I’m also super repulsed by Zsasz being played by someone as FOINE as Messina, but YMMV.) Maybe it isn’t true and this is some bs once again a la Marvel promises. Maybe the actors cannot confirm it but know that it is true. Oh, wow! The first kinda-sorta gay villains in a DC superhero movie… ish! “And there’s a real love of anarchy.” OK, but what about a love of dick? McGregor and Messina fumbled and danced around answering in the affirmative while also giving enough of a “sure” to keep fans frothing:Īre Ewan McGregor and Chris Messina's characters gay in #BirdsofPrey? /f1avM9aGSO- Variety January 24, 2020 ![]() As the internet and fans are wont to do, a call for McGregor’s Black Mask and Messina’s serial killer Victor Zsasz to be in a romantic- or just sexual -relationship in the movie went up.Ī few days ago, Variety asked the two actors if the fan wish was going to be a reality in the flick. Ewan McGregor and Chris Messina are both very attractive men and they play the two villains taking on Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and her kickass friends in the upcoming Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn.
